Terms
These terms tell you the rules for using casomo.co.uk. They cover everything we produce: the calculators, the guides, and the Wealth Report.
Who we are and how to contact us
This site is owned and run by Casomo Ltd (“we”, “us”), company number 15030496, registered in England and Wales. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office as a data controller, reference ZC219565.
You can get in touch through the contact form, and we’ll reply by email.
By using this site you accept these terms
By using this site you confirm that you accept these terms and agree to follow them. If you don’t agree to them, please don’t use the site.
Other terms that also apply to you
Our privacy policy sets out what data we hold, what we don’t, how long we keep it and your rights. It also covers the cookies and browser storage this site uses. If you ask us for a Wealth Report, the questionnaire adds its own consent step, which points back here.
We may change these terms
We update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page is when we last changed them, so please check back before you rely on anything here.
We may change or withdraw this site
Everything here is free to use. We update the site as pay circulars, tax years and scheme rules change, so what a calculator shows today may not be what it shows next April.
We don’t promise the site will always be available or uninterrupted. We may suspend, withdraw or restrict any part of it, and we’ll try to give reasonable notice if we do.
This site is for people in the United Kingdom
Everything here is built around UK pay, UK tax and the NHS Pension Scheme. That means all four nations: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, each of which sets its own pay scales. We make no claim that any of it is appropriate or usable outside the UK.
Do not rely on our tools and guides alone
We are not financial advisers and we are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Nothing on this site is financial advice or a personal recommendation, and nothing here will tell you when to retire, which option to pick, whether to take a lump sum, or what to do with any money you hold. If you read a sentence that sounds like a recommendation, we’ve made a mistake, and we’d like you to tell us.
What we give you is arithmetic: published rules applied to figures you supply. Every figure is illustrative and rests on assumptions, which we write down next to the numbers they affect. Figures you give us are carried as you stated them, and we don’t check them for you. Figures we calculate come from published rules on the date shown, and rules change.
Our numbers are not an official record. Your Total Reward Statement, an estimate from NHSBSA, your State Pension forecast and anything your other providers send you are the authoritative record. Ours is a working picture built from what we were told.
In some cases, decisions that you make may be difficult to reverse. For example, taking your benefits is effectively final once they are in payment. Opting out is different: you can reverse it by rejoining, but you don’t get back the pension you would have built while you were out.
If you’re looking for a recommendation, we suggest you seek regulated financial advice. You can check any adviser is authorised on the Financial Conduct Authority register. NHSBSA is the authority on the NHS scheme itself, and Pension Wise is free and government-backed from age 50, though it covers defined contribution pensions, so it can help with other pots you hold rather than with your NHS pension.
Your Wealth Report
The Wealth Report is an audit. We take what you told us, add what the published scheme rules say, and put the whole picture in one document. It shows what you’ve built, and what it could be worth at the retirement dates you asked us about. The section above applies to it in full.
Bringing your pensions, savings and other holdings onto one page isn’t a comparison of them, and it isn’t a plan for the order to use them in; the report shows the position, and the choices inside it stay yours.
How you may use our material
We own or license the content on this site, and it’s protected by copyright. You may print or download extracts for your own use, and share them with colleagues. Please don’t republish our material commercially, or present it as your own, and please credit us if you quote it.
The pay and pension logic behind the calculators is a separate thing: it’s published as an open source library under its own licence, which governs that code rather than these terms. Your report is yours. Do what you like with it, including taking it to an adviser.
We are not responsible for other websites we link to
We link out often and on purpose, to NHSBSA, gov.uk, the Government Actuary’s Department and other authoritative sources. Those links are there so you can check us against the original. We don’t control what those sites say, and a link isn’t our endorsement of it.
What you must not do
Please don’t use this site for anything unlawful, or in any way that could damage it or spoil it for anyone else. In particular, don’t try to gain unauthorised access to the site or the servers behind it, don’t attempt to disrupt or overload it, and don’t knowingly introduce anything malicious.
We make every effort to keep this site free of bugs and to support a wide range of devices and browsers. Keeping your own device protected, including running your own virus protection, is your responsibility, however.
Our responsibility for loss or damage
We calculate to the published scheme rules, and we check our workings against NHSBSA and Government Actuary’s Department worked examples. We show those workings, and we stamp every assumption we’ve made, so you can follow the arithmetic rather than take it on trust. If a figure looks wrong to you, tell us. We’ll check it, and if it’s wrong we’ll correct it, on the site or by reissuing your report.
Our numbers are not a substitute for your official statements, or for advice where advice is needed. To the extent the law allows, we limit our liability for loss that follows from acting on our numbers alone. We provide this site for personal use and accept no liability for business losses.
That is a limit, not a disclaimer. Nothing here removes any right you have under consumer law, and nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t let us limit.
How we use your personal information
We only use your personal information as set out in our privacy policy.
Which law applies, and where disputes are heard
These terms are governed by English law. You and we agree that the courts of England and Wales can settle any dispute arising from them, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there.
